Expensive Candles Doesn't Mean Good Candles

Hi. Just a short post to let you know that I've tried all kinds of candles. Expensive candles aren't always good.

Smoke is the culprit from this candle. Soot comes from this one no matter how diligently I trim the wick. You can see the smoke coming from the candle in the first photo. In the photo below, you can see that candle is releasing heaps of soot. Compare the jar on the left (non-PartyLite) to the one on the right (PartyLite, Citrus Bloom, Barrel Jar).

Coming soon - votives: PartyLite versus the world. :)

Unlit Candles are a Sacrilege

I am a candle lover, and enjoy having candles lit wherever I am, so when Alan and I stayed at my mother-in-law's house this Christmas, we (ok, I) found her candle stash.

Her tealights were the extremely cheap variety (no offence intended at all, most people buy these - I used to). I put them out in some tealight cups. They didn't look beautiful and I didn't replace them the next night.

She had two pillar candles. One was metallic blue and complemented the plate it was sitting on. Shells surrounded it and it looked quite pretty. Until I lit it. I wish I'd taken a picture. The wax never melted more than a 20 cent piece away from the wick. So into the pit the flame went. Alan wouldn't let me throw it away. I still wish I had.

The other pillar candle was sitting in another nice display, It was dusty, still had the plastic wrap around it, and I'm pretty sure it was leaning slightly to one side. I removed the plastic (I can't tell you how many people I've seen leave that plastic on - dangerous), trimmed the wick (so important), and lit the candle. It was beautiful. It burnt nicely, smelled great, and the wax melted to the edges of the candle. Each night I would give the candle a hug and toddle off to bed.

If you've got candles... light them. Enjoy them. Give them life and then replace them. They were meant to be lit. If they suck... throw them away. It's that simple.

Candles Make You Work Better

If you are lucky enough to work in an environment where you can burn candles, I have two words for you: DO IT!

Candles create an atmosphere where you can achieve creativity and focus. If you're writing a document, and can't think of the next line, look at the candle and ask the candle what to say... I bet it comes to you. (I honestly use this technique. You can probably tell.)

Some candles are particularly good in an office environment. I sell candles with a fragrance called Revitalise. The essential oils of Sage and Mandarin have an aroma therapy effect and actually help keep you... revitalised! Seriously. I wouldn't lie.
Offices that smell musty or stale simply aren't good places to work. So bring in some candlelight to share with your workmates.

Wendy Tip: Jar Candles! Jar candles don't require any assistance (for those of you who hug candles, you'll know what I mean) and minimal supervision (though, and I can't stress this enough, you should NEVER leave a candle burning unattended). Votives and tealights are good, too, but they don't last as long and I think you'll get much better value out of jar candles.

Now, if you can't burn candles, you can still improve the situation. Reed Diffusers might be the solution you are looking for. No flame, just glorious fragrances. (You can get Revialise in a reed diffuser, too.)

Me? I work at home, with the dogs asleep around me, a candle flickering nearby and the music playing lightly in the background. I'm working now as I type this entry. Crazy, isn't it? Ahhh the life of a candle lady.

To order candles, or to find out about business opportunities like this one (it only seems to good to be true), just call me. Talk soon! WLC.

Always Bring Candles on Holidays

Wendy's Travel Hint: Keep a PartyLite candle tin and a box of matches in your toiletries bag - that way you always have a candle with you when you travel.

Candles will add incredible flair and ambiance to your holidays. Whether you are staying with friends, or in a five star hotel with a beautiful jacuzzi tub, or even on a thrifty overnight excursion in two star accommodation, simply by lighting one of your favourite scented PartyLite tealights on the bedside table will upgrade your room. It makes the room smell beautiful and adds a nice, relaxing touch at the end of the day.

Suggestion for a great night's sleep: PartyLite's Well Being candles in the Unwind fragrance with Lavender and Vanilla essential oils. Don't have any? Order now.

Health tip: Don't start a fire. Think carefully about placement, and snuff out the candles when you go to sleep.
